The all-wheel drive Volvo XC90 Plug-in Hybrid benefits from a handsome, sculpted look that goes much deeper than the sheet metal. Nowhere is this more obvious than under the hood, where the goals of improved fuel economy and improved power are seemingly at odds with one another. Power comes from a 2.0L turbocharged engine that is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The result is an almost unbelievable 312 horsepower which increases to 455 with the addition of the electric motor. The 2024 XC90 Plug-in Hybrid is offered in several trims T8 Core 7-Seater, T8 Plus 7-Seater, T8 Plus 6-Seater, T8 Ultra 7-Seater and Ultra 6-Seater. The base XC90 Plug-in Hybrid comes with plenty of luxury features, as is generally expected in this class. Standard items include heated windshield washer nozzles, four-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power adjustable and heated front seats, power rear headrests, a panoramic power sunroof, a navigation system, a rearview camera and front and rear parking sensors, 20-inch wheels, and satellite radio with a 3-month subscription. The Ultra trim features chrome accents, 21-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, 16-way front seats, leather seats, driver and passenger seat memory, ambient lighting, 14-speaker sound system, head-up display, surround view camera, and a heated steering wheel. The XC90 Plug-in Hybrid wouldn't be a Volvo if it didn't offer world-class, innovative safety systems. In addition to features like lane keep assist and blind spot warning, Volvo's Pilot Assist II driver assistance technologies allow the XC90 Plug-in Hybrid to steer and brake autonomously at speeds up to 80 mph, while its City Safety suite provides features like run-off road mitigation and large animal detection.
